Interesting read, I personally love John Carpenter but he is not everybody's cup of tea. One thing you have got wrong is John Carpenter has heavily influence directors, one great director being Robert Rodriguez.

To tell the truth, I am speechless. The Shawshank Redemption is extraordinary. I'am not too old film fan, as a matter of fact, this film is realised whenI was born, and consequently I am more used to films with marvelous special effects, edge-of-your-seat action, et cetera. This movie has none of that, and yet, it attracts . The way Frank Darabont applies the story of Red to drive on the story, the excellent the movie applied (note the mouth harp used just before Red receiving the letter at the end). The entire film, from beginning to finish, from actions to music, is a lighthouse of hope, assessment, and repurchase. The cast is ideal, Morgan Freeman(Red) in reality brings about a fresh feel to the film, and that's precisely what the movie is, what a movie should be. Highly recommended for every movie fan.
