Finally I get to use more than 140 characters…
We’ve arrived at the launch date for Jack the Bastard and Other Stories. Damn that took awhile.
I’ve got a JTB page up, a work-in-progress that’ll progress as the week continues–notable additions will be the official soundtrack, available for listening via some sort of embedded player. The mp3 links (via Amazon) are already up, though you’re certainly welcome to buy it on iTunes or wherever your loyalties lie.
Randomized Bits-o’-Tidness:
1. It took me a few weeks but I’ve decided that Moonrise Kingdom is Anderson’s best since Rushmore. The preciousness of his work (a term I usually loathe, but how else to describe?) has become farcical, his characters all have an autistic dullness to them, and I don’t think Anderson is making movies for “us” anymore (not necessarily a criticism, btw), but what the hell. I enjoyed it. (My apologies. “Enjoyed” is a lousy verb. It stuffs all that is accurate about Damning With Faint Praise into seven letters.)
2. Speaking of late to the party, this week I finally gave Breaking Bad another shot. Season 2 hooked me. Guess I should try The Wire again. For the fourth time.
3. I’ve been Tweeting too much and now my characters are all speaking in pithy sentences, which makes me mourn Raymond Chandler’s absence–would there have been a better Twitterite? Aside from Twain? And Oscar Wilde?
